To create and manage a community centre in which cultural and educational programs as well as aged care services, will be supported and accommodated. In addition to social activities, this centre will be mainly used for the introduction of Persian culture (Arts and Literature) to the Australian society at large and Australian Iranian youth . By delivering and supporting art and cultural programs HOPE will help creating social understanding and harmony within the broader Australian community.
House of Persia is and will always operate as a not for profit, non-political, and a secular organisation.
a. Members of House of Persia – Anyone who respects the Constitution of House of Persia and at least pays $1000 in cash (or undertaking) to the organisation will be regarded as a voting member. Members of House of Persia can in addition to using the facilities of House of Persia participate in the election of the Committee of Management. Members of House of Persia can be elected as members of the Committee of Management – and as per the Association Incorporation Act.
b. Associate Members of House of Persia – Anyone who respects the constitution of House of Persia and interested in its objectives can become an Associate Member provided s/he pays an annual fee set by the Committee of Management and can use the social, cultural, and artistic facilities of House of Persia.
All members of the Australian Iranian Society of Victoria are regarded as associate members of House of Persia. Payment of the annual fee for these members is on voluntary basis.
Committee of Management
House of Persia is managed by a Committee of Management comprising nine (9) members. Seven (7) of them are elected for a period of 3 years by members of House of Persia or their proxies who are themselves members at an annual general meeting. President and the treasurer of the Australian Iranian Society of Victoria or their representatives, who are also members of the Committee of Management of the Australian Iranian Society of Victoria, will be appointed as members of the Committee of Management of House of Persia by the annual general meeting at the time of election of the Committee. President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary will be chosen from the elected 7 members of the Committee. Committee of Management is not allowed to incur any financial liability for House of Persia in excess of 50 per cent of its assets unless approved by the general meeting.
a. Annual General Meeting (AGM): This meeting is held annually to approve the minutes of the past AGM’s and the financial report and (every three years) elect members of the Committee of Management.
b. Special General Meeting: such meetings are held by the decision of the Committee of Management of House of Persia or 20 per cent of the members. In these meetings issues related to the House of Persia can be discussed and considered.
House of Persia will operate two separate funds. The first one is a General Fund which deals with the general operation of HOPE dealing with community matters. The second one is a Public Fund which will be maintained in accordance with ITAA 1997, section 30-130 and deals with matters directly related to art and culture.
In case of winding up, all assets and capital of the House of Persia related to General Fund will be distributed to other Iranian community organisations with constitutional structure similar to House of Persia, after deductions for all liabilities. General Meeting will decide the proportion each organisation will receive. All assets and capital of the House of Persia related to Public Fund will be distributed to other community organisations with constitutional structure similar to House of Persia and with Deductable Gift Recipient eligibility , after deductions for all liabilities. General Meeting will decide the proportion each organisation will receive.
